Nigeria Government Closes Case to #BringBackOurGirls

In the most depressing news in weeks, I have read that the Nigerian government has officially closed the investigation on the missing girls.

You can read the article here.

It has been 81 days, and they have given up entirely that these girls will be returned home through their efforts. And really, there has been no news in at least 2 weeks from the major US news agencies. So apparently, the media has given up as well.

I was only able to find that story after searching the hashtag and even then, it was half way down the page. The #BringBackOurGirls twitter campaign has lost its steam.

The group that took them is still out terrorizing people all over the country. The girls have not returned and there is no news on whether they are alive and well at all. All feels very bleak to me, again.

This tweet sums it all up for me, and why I keep posting, and will keep posting until they #BringBackOurGirls.

REFUSE TO SPEAK FOR THEM TODAY, WHO WILL SPEAK FOR YOU/YOUR DAUGHTER/SISTER/MUM TOMORROW ?

Do not give up on them. Keep the hashtag rolling, keep the media focused on this until they #BringBackOurGirls.

  1. I really fear that it will not. I have a young daughter and this terrifies me that this goes on. I feel like I need to DO something, but I suspect educating her and others is the strongest thing we can do- that IS what they are attempting to take away from these girls. Education is power!
